France to Neuschwanstein Castle by car

Hi! My husband & I are on our honeymoon and we will be leaving Paris on 7th July. We rented a car and we would like to visit Neuschwanstein Castle and will be flying off from Frankurt. We will have to arrive in Frankfurt on 12th July. Any recommended routes to take so we can stopover to visit any towns along the way?

Is it recommended to go to Luxembourg or Stuttgart for a stop-over?

Thank you in advance.

The standard warning: Are you renting this car in Paris and returning it in Frankfurt?
Renting a car in one country and returning it in another is usually very expensive.
The nearest airport to Füssen (where Neuschwanstein is) is actually Munich.

Routes: Reims, plus surrounding Champagne Area
Look up Colmar and the Alsace Wine route.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a good stop. Many other small towns in Germany. Too many to list.
I am deliberately NOT listing big cities, because you do not want to be driving in the centre of those. No Strasbourg, Munich, Nurembourg etc.

Hello! We rented the car from Frankfurt and will be returning in Frankfurt so no issue on this.

We are just looking for recommendations for towns to visit along the route of Paris to the castle and then to Frankfurt that we can stop over.

Luxembourg is out of your way, and you would have the thrill that is the Autoroute between Metz and Luxembourg via Thionville and Yutz. Lots of trucks, always delays. Personal experience. Luxembourg is a place I like quite a lot, both rural and the city of the same name. A lot of people aren't so keen, so its up to you. It will add an hour northbound and an hour southbound. Try to arrive in Luxembourg (the country) with an empty tank. Fuel, especially diesel, is the cheapest in western and central Europe. All filling stations in the country are the same price, plus or minus 2 tenths of a cent.

Nancy could be on your way, Karlsruhe could be on your way. Stuttgart is definately on your way, and the Mr Wash car wash there is the coolest I've ever used. I go back whenever there's a chance. There's even a youtube. I don't know what Sarah - who lives there - thinks of it. Just south of Stuttgart is Tübingen and east is Esslingen - both worth a visit if they float your boat.

With 8 or 9 hours driving you won't have a whole lot of time to smell the flowers.
