Just looking for last minute recommendations— your favorite routes, stops, views, villages, restaurants, walks, markets, churches, fondue, etc.

If the weather is good I highly recommend renting a bike to ride around the lake in Annecy for a day. It’s absolutely gorgeous! There are places to buy lunch but I recommend packing a picnic. I recommend Les Terrasses du Lac for a lovely meal, a couple miles outside the center of Annecy.
Oh that does sound lovely-unfortunately we are both dealing with some mobility issues this trip-thus the “road trip” and not “train trip” this time
We’ll certainly walk along lake as far as we can and possibly do some sort of boat ride

Between Annecy & Dijon, the Brou monastery outside Bourg-en-Bresse is an undervisited gem. A late Gothic masterpiece.
Between DIjon & Colmar, Besançon would be a good lunch stop. The riverside location with a looming Vauban citadel is attractive.
