I plan to drive from Reims to Grenoble via Verdun, Metz, Nancy, Strausburg, Colmar and Grenoble with two days in each. Your thoughts on time budget.

Metz & Nancy are so close together, so I would stay in one of those locations and day-trip to the other (3 days total & give one day to one of your Italian locations. Also, same for Strasbourg & Colmar. Stay in one of those for 3-4 days, and take a day-trip to another. For those two, one day exploring the smaller villages near Colmar would be nice.
Are you beginning in Paris?
