France in March

Hello - Our family would like to visit London then on to Paris, and possibly take some road trips in France. We have a window the middle of March and I'm wondering if this a good time of the year to visit - specifically France. This would be our first visit. Thank you in advance for your input.

What are your concerns about visiting France in March -- weather, crowds, sites being open or something else? If it's crowds, there is really no off season in Paris -- hotel occupancy is lowest in January, February and August but for the lowest month of last year, which was February, it was a little over 66% according to the Paris Tourist Board. There are always tourists in Paris. March is when it is starting to pick up again and many people visit during spring breaks from school that fall in March. It will be less busy than June, July and August and lines, when you come across them will be shorter. I don't know about the lines for going up the Eiffel Tower because in just about a dozen visits I have never gone up into the Tower. I love March, April, May, September and November in Paris. If your concern is sites and restaurants being open, everything will be open. If your concern is weather, take a look at http://weatherspark.com/averages/32134/3/Paris-Ile-de-France. Have a great trip.

Thank you for your replies.

Colette: We're in the Austin area, so this is good to know!

JHK: I was mainly concerned about attractions being closed. We would like to spend around 4 days in Paris, but are looking at venturing south as well - slightly overwhelmed with our options, ha. Weather wise, we're fine with it being on the chilly side.
