France in 7-9days - First Timers in Europe

We are a family of 3 (husband, wife and 2yr kid), planning to visit france in September mid. Need help/suggestions in the places
we can visit in France. Basically we are looking out for some arcitecture/art, cultural, scenic related memories out of this trip.
Few of the places in our mind are:
1. Paris
2. Loire Valley
3. Versailles
4. The Alabaster Coast in Normandy
5. Giverny & Monet villages
6. Some of the old town/villages like : Colmar and Annecy
7. Champagne Region - for champagne tasting

I hope in this
- Versailles (probably a bike trip from paris) as a day trip
- Giverny can be covered as part a day trip from Paris via rail.
- Loire Valley will also take 2D/1N probably. Is it wise to plan for a bike trip for this region. Can we rent out a bike at some place in
Loire Valley and explore the small town and village. Also can we have some wine tour also in this area
- I am not sure how to plan for the trip trip to Alabaster Coast. I am interested in basically some of the best view points of this
coastal strip. How long should we stay here and how to commute from paris or any near by areas.

We are planning to move on to either Switzerland/Italy after this trip, hence please consider that also.
Our plan is to arrive at Paris first. And from there cover the day trips like Versailles, Giverny etc.

Please share your valuable comments on this plan. If this is too much or how I can go about this.

Sorry the list of places i had mentioned with thise i just meant i like those places basically suited my taste. I was looking for a mix of country side , small oldtowns, citysome scenary, art /architecture.
May be you can suggest if more than 2 places have same things to provide . Then i can skip them....

If you go to the Loire Valley you'll see plenty of chateaux, so skip Versailles. I'd also skip Champagne and do wine tasting in other locations on your list, such as the Loire and Alsace/Colmar.

@ Robert, thanks for your suggestion. As per that I will be skipping Champagne region and Versailles
One more help, can someone help me with Loire Valley itinerary. What all places can be visited. And what other activities than wine tasting/tour. Since I have a 2 year old kid, is it possible to explore Loire Valley using a bike. How about the accommodation.

Any suggestions regarding the Alabaster Coast. How many days it will take to explore the main view points in this coastal stretch. And what type of transport should i use for commutation. Is the accommodation costly in his region ?

You should Google bike tours for the Loire Valley and ask if there any child seats that will fit on your bike. Otherwise, you'll have to put the baby in a carrier - like a backpack. If you are going in the Summer, it will be uncomfortable.
I don't know any bike tours that can accommodate kids this young in Paris, but maybe out in the country it's possible.

Here's a web site devoted to cycling along the Loire River: http://www.cycling-loire.com/ I looked into it a few years ago but didn't do any cycling there.

The Loire Valley is quite long (the Loire is the longest river in France), so where you go might be dependent on where else you wind up going to. Some of the most spectacular chateaux are Chenonceaux, Chambord, and Usse, but there are so many others that whatever area you choose there will be some worth visiting.

Hi Freebird,

I started to suggest a very tight itinerary that includes your 3 most logistically compact destinations: Paris, Normandy, and the Loire.

I couldn't make it work, because you need at least 3 nights in Normandy and 2 in the Loire. And you've only got 8 nights.

2D/1N sounds good but is generally not a good plan except maybe to break a journey in an interesting place. What it means is perhaps late afternoon, dinner, an evening stroll, then checking out of your hotel, wrangling your bags while you do something in the morning, and then going on to the next place. With a toddler. You are not going to push any of your Loire buttons in that time frame.

Since you seem very into the Loire, and have some detailed activities for both, I'd split the time between the two. If you can manage to continue to the Loire on your first day and make Paris second, you'll be a little closer to Italy and Switzerland at the end of your time. But the rail connections from the Amboise TGV station are good.

Alternatively, Colmar and Annecy work enroute to the alps, maybe.

Adam, you might want to edit the name in your post to make it read " freebird4travel", since he/she is the OP and might not read a reply that has a different name.

Robert, my goodness, how did I make that mistake? Thank you.

I hate to tell someone his or her business, but newbies with a toddler in tow--not going to be very nimble, I think.
