France finally getting some vaccines going

We are hoping to travel in late October, but we realize it's most likely going to be next Spring 2022. About 12 million vaccinated with one shot and 4.3 million have had both shots.

Good progress, but from friends who live there, I would be concerned about how many are going to refuse any vaccine. There’s more reluctance there than in the U.K., it appears.

What the French say they will or will not do, and what they actually do, are often two different things. Many people indicated early on that they were not going to be vaccinated, but participation has been higher than some officials originally believed.

The government has modified its original estimate of when everyone will have the chance to be vaccinated from the end of summer to mid-July. Schools are planned to reopen later this month, with commerce and museums opening by the middle of May. Outdoor restaurant service might also open mid May. Maybe by June things will be on track for EU tourism. If all goes well, international borders might be open this fall.

We can only hope.
