Food tours in Lyon and Provence

Looking for recommendations for tours focused on 'lighter' food in Lyon. Spouse does not eat pork/beef at all. I also try to avoid for medical reasons, but ok with it. We eat everything else, including chicken, seafood and of course wines/cheeses. Lyon cuisine seems to be more hearty, so just wanted to manage the experience. Also have a similar question about food tours in Nice, and around St. Remy/Avignon. We will be visiting in October. Thank you.

My suggestion would be to ditch the notion of going on a food tour. Food tours tend to focus on restaurants and bars serving food characteristic of the area in which they operate, and as you've noted most people associate food in Lyon with being heavy and meat (especially organ meat) heavy.

And it can be.

But it needn't be. And it isn't everywhere in Lyon. One can find very interesting restaurants serving light meat and fish dishes, ethnic cuisine, and vegetarian or vegan dishes. They're there. But you have to look for them.

I would suggest spending your time mapping out places to go that serve the kinds of food you prefer. It will take a bit more work, yes, but it will be customized to your tastes.
