Food Resources for Paris

Does anyone have any really amazing resources for food recommendations for Paris? Books, magazines or websites?

I am not necessarily looking for Michelin starred places and not really places that are so hot right now there is a two hour wait to get in the door. But every now and then an internet article will pop up that is something like "best breakfast places in Paris" and I always kick myself for not bookmarking it!

Amy,
I remember seeing some recommendations in The Wall Street Journal off and on over the years, so I just Googled to refresh my memory. Oh my gosh, just enter into a Google: "Wall Street Journal top food spots Paris" and an entire page of different links to various articles that have appeared will come up. Ditto for similar Google search, but with Conde Nast (which will also bring up epicurious recommendations, too.

Happy travels and delightful dining,
Margaret

I also like articles from Mark Bittman in the New York Times and from the Guardian newspaper travel section. Check publication dates for the most recent. Rick Steves' Paris guidebook has some reliable listings, with the influence of a co-author who's much more of a gourmet than Rick, but rarely the "latest thing."

Well, that's a high bar there, Amy...

There are the usual suspects, of course: David Lebovitz, Hungry for Paris, Patricia Wells. But there's also John Talbott, who is refreshingly different. He's also got a great list of blogs on his site.

Some spots that were super hot a while back have probably become more accessible, for example Bones, where we had a very incredible meal, and enjoyed the staff immensely. Reviews were a bit uneven, it was not everyone's experience, but we loved it. Also, there is A la Biche au Bois, one of our favorite overall dining experiences. Reserve; later seating is better at these, imo.

Mostly, though, I would strongly recommend getting to Jacques Genin for hot chocolate and millefeuille .

I like this site: http://parisbymouth.com/
A lot of the restaurants are small so get reservations. Even if they are not on everyone's current "hot" list, the good ones do get booked.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions - this was exactly what I was hoping for. Now I have several websites to scout out to plot my perfect foodie Paris trip. And Dave, thank you - I am very familiar with David Lebovitz, but was not with "Hungry for Paris". I already have it ordered!

Bones is closing for good when they close for the holidays in mid-August.

I like to read Chocolate & Zucchini. Clotilde Dusoulier also has a few books, including "Edible Adventures in Paris", but it was published in 2008, so some of the recommendations would be outdated. It includes restaurants, markets, shops, bookstores, and stores for utensils. It's available at Amazon for a penny plus shipping.

Also, check out the link at the bottom of the home page for French idioms.

Finally, here's an off-topic link for a Chicago-based food forum. It's a trip report for Cadez, Avignon and Provence, but it will give you a taste of what's on here. Just google the site for Paris, and post a question. LTH Forum
