Hello! This April I will be taking my first trip to Europe- flying in to Marseille and out of Bilbao about two weeks later. I will be joining my parents and their best friend on a small portion of their much longer trip and although I do not have influence over our itinerary I am hoping to influence our meals. They go to Europe for about a month and a half every year, primarily staying in homes for days or weeks at a time. They have one meal per day at a restaurant and do picnics or cook at home the rest of the time.
Please help with recommendations for restaurants averaging 15 euros or less for lunch and 30 euros or less for dinner (not including wine). According to my Dad anything more is insane and there is no changing his mind. Type of cuisine is wide open. My birthday will be on a Thursday in Arles (same day as their b/f traveling with us)- I might be able to get him to give a little that night.
I would also like recommendations for can't miss local ingredients. I love to cook and we will have fully equipped kitchens and outdoor grills.
Broad Itinerary:
Arles: 5 nights
Carcassonne: 1 night
Sarlat: 4 nights
1 night undecided between Sarlat and San Sebastián.
Pasaia: 3 nights
Please help.
