Fontainebleau & Vaux le Vicomte - where to lunch?

I've signed up for a day-long bus tour of these two chateaux.

The tour description says "lunch not included."

What's your recommendation for a quick lunch at either of these sights?

Thanks!
Ron

Are you doing the Paris City Vision tour? If so, I did that tour last September and we went to Vaux-le-Vicomte first, in the morning, and were allowed enough time to have lunch at the on-site cafeteria, which was actually pretty good. The chateau is literally in the middle of nowhere, so there are no other options. If you are going to Fontainbleau first, there are several places to eat near the chateau, outside the gates, but I think only a snack bar on the grounds. The trip between the two takes about 45 minutes. It's a great trip. I hope you signed up for the guided tour - there were only 12 in our group and we got a lot of good information from the guide. You might be able to "upgrade" when you check in for the tour.

Vaux has a cafeteria which is not bad and does not allow food to be carried in from outside - no picnics on these private grounds. Fontainebleau is a public monument and the grounds are free and open and allows picnicking and you could bring food which we did. There was a food bar but I don't remember what was available as we had our own food.
