Fontainebleau and Vaux-le-Vicomte

Hi, everyone. I am looking at train info for traveling to both Fontainebleau and Vaux-le-Vicomte from Paris in one day. I would appreciate any advice and suggestions. Thank you. Have a great day

The train that goes from Paris to Fontainebleau Avon (where you get a local bus to the chateau) goes through Melun where you can get a taxi from the station to Vaux le Vicomte. So you could go early to Fontainebleau and then take the same train back to Melun and head for Vaux le Vicomte.

Note that Vaux le Vicomte is closed most of the winter. I also would just pick one or the other than rush through each. Vaux le Vicomte during the spring summer and fall is spectacular and has a magnificent garden -- it is worth a day.

But if you are planning this now, Vaux le Vicomte is likely to be closed except for December Christmas events. The problem with those is getting back to Paris afterwards. I don't know when the last train is, but I would want to be sure to have my transport lined up before commiting to that. I can imagine going to Fontainebleau during the day and then to the evening program at Vaux.
