Following Rick's D-Day route in car - Parking availability

Hello,

I will be renting a car and following the route that Rick recommends in his Normandy Snapshot book to see the D-Day sites. The information is very thorough and helpful. The one thing I could not determine is the availability of parking at the different stops on the route. For example, are there parking lots? If so is there a parking fee? If not can you park on the side of the road. There was information about parking at some of the sites but not all.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Virtually everywhere will be different!

There will often be a site car park, but this may be small and oversubscribed. On street parking - look for pay meters and signs detailing parking restrictions.

Use google earth to see if there are obvious cars parked where you want to be.

I am not familiar with the RS Snapshot book. But most major sites have ample parking outside of the actual D-day anniversary itself, when they can get crowded. But the Normandy American Cemetery, all the beaches, museums, Point-du-Hoc, etc, all have free parking lots.
