Follow-up itinerary questions - London - Bayeux - Paris

I made some changes to my Fall itinerary based on feedback to my previous topic (link posted below). Unfortunately, travel times have become more restricted.

1.Day 1: London – Arrive AM

2.Day 2: London

3.Day 3: London

4.Day 4: London to Paris via Eurostar (Chunnel). Rent a car at Gare du Nord and drive to Versailles. After Versailles, drive to Bayeux.

5.Day 5: Bayeux – D-Day Tour (this is a hard date, cannot move)

6.Day 6: Bayeux to Paris potentially via Giverny and Monet's gardens

7.Day 7: Paris

8.Day 8: Paris

9.Day 9: Paris - Depart AM

Adding Versailles to the Bayuex drive adds about 45 minutes of driving plus the time spent at Versailles. I admit I'm struggling to fit in Versailles, which is a requirement for this trip.

The advantage of this approach is staying in only 3 hotels.

All feedback will be appreciated

A fair amount of driving, hope u have driven in France bef. It is always more tiring than equivalent in US. imo. I have driven extensively for yrs in Europe in rain, also. Plan to reach your destinations bef dark. versailles is a blockbuster, plan on at least 2 hrs and get there early. Depending upon which day of wk there may be a line. The weather and stamina will prob determine whether u see Giverny or not. Otherwise enjoy your trip.

Hello,
what if you do the Versailles trip as a day trip from Paris. Go via train.

So, Day 4 : get rental car and go to Monet's Garden and then Bayeux
Day 5: D-day beaches tour
Day 6: early drive back to Paris. Return the car. Enjoy Paris.
Day 7: Paris
Day 8: Versailles and more of Paris
Day 9: Paris and departure.

What do you think?

I, too, recommend Versailles as a day trip during your time in Paris. That way you can see as much as you want and not feel rushed. It would also allow you to take the train from Paris to Bayeux and renting a car there. I think that would certainly be less stressful than driving in Paris.

I think Versaille is a time consuming stop and will make the day really long day if you see it as part of your drive from Bayeux. Adding Giverny would be on the way and is right on the same rail line so you could drop the car in Bayeux (assuming track maintenance stops before your trip). I think it's easy enough to take the train from Paris to Versailles unless walking is an issue, I'd guess it's at least a mile from the train to the entrance.

The RER stops just around the corner from Versailles if you catch the correct train. There is another line which stops further away.

I wonder where you will park the car when you are visiting Versailles if you stick with that plan. What are you doing with your luggage while it is parked? Not leaving it in the car, right?
