Don't know if anyone else saw this or not - https://www.yahoo.com/news/france-bans-most-foie-gras-120743805.html. Sounds like the production of foie-gras will be halted for three months. This was done because of the discovery of bird flu in that area.
Poor geese.
Will this drive up the price? What will I eat if I can't force feed myself with foie gras at the end of the month!? I bought a whole pants size larger for the occasion! ;)
And I suppose the supply of champagne will be cut off next. Who will come to our aid?
With a temporary halt to foie gras production, sales of sweet Jurancon, Sauternes, Monbazillac, etc. will plummet.
Luckily, there's still that excellent Alsatian foie-gras--with some good Alsatian noble rot wine.
