Flying out of CDG

How much time should I allot for arrival at CDG before my return trip to the USA? On a Sunday morning (if that matters).

Without a doubt, 3 hours. In the olden days, we were always told 2 hours would be adequate but once we only had 5 minutes before boarding started, I decided 3 hours was more appropriate. We've been told 3 hours for the last several years. It sure is nicer to have to wait a while at the gate rather than be running and panicking!

The only thing that matters about it being a Sunday morning is that if you take a taxi it will be less expensive than on a weekday. Definitely abide by the 3 hour rule.

Just a reminder that the taxi rate is slightly higher on Sunday mornings than it is the rest of the week.

rib,

I agree with the others that 2.5 - 3 hours would be prudent. Conditions often seem to be chaotic at CDG and it's difficult to predict how long it will take on each occasion to check-in, get through security, etc. My last trip through there was no exception and my flight was late departing.

I agree, three hours to be on the safe side. We found the check-in and security surprisingly disorganized. The check-in counter may not even be open if you get there too early, but better safe than sorry. We stayed at the airport Ibis Hotel the night before our 10 AM departure. There are others too, but if you stay there the night before try to get a place at the airport itself, rather than the nearby town of Roissy.

Sounds like I need to be to DeGaulle three hours before flight time. I'll make it so.

Now, about taxis... one person says they are more expensive on Sunday and another says they are less. Which is correct?
And is cab the best way for me to travel from the hotel in which we are staying, in the Montmartre neighborhood?
I am travelling with my adult daughter and our baggage will consist of a carry-on size suitcase each and a camera backpack (and whatever souvenirs she picks up in our 2 weeks in Italy)

The reason I said the taxi on Sunday would be cheaper than on a weekday was that the traffic would be lighter. I have no knowledge of surcharges for Sunday taxi use.

rib,

I normally use a Shuttle to the airport rather than a Taxi. I ask the hotel staff the day prior to travel to arrange that, and it's always worked well. The only slight disadvantage is that it's a shared Shuttle so the driver stops at several hotels, but I don't find that to be a big problem.

You could also take the RER "B" although I haven't looked at access from the area you mentioned.
