Fly or take the train between CDG & Lyon?

Experienced France travelers, please share your thoughts, with price not being a consideration, which is easier after arriving on American Air from the US to CDG and heading directly to Lyon-should I fly between CDG & LYS or take the train between CDG and Lyon Part Dieu. After a few days in Lyon, I will be headed to Annecy, so planning to stay near Lyon Part Dieu train station for convenience.

The train. Faster than flying and more comfortable.

Agreed. However I would take a taxi from the airport to your train station since you will be tired and have your luggage.

There is no need to take a taxi to the train station because there is a train station at CDG with frequent trains to Lyon.

Plus there’s the new law:

“The French government has banned short-haul flights where a train or bus alternative of two and a half hours or less exists, a move which came into effect in April 2022. This new rule is part of an overall effort by France to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2030, bringing them back down to 1990 levels.”

Hi, Lyon has a nice tram system, so you don’t need to stay near the train station….unless you really want to be there. We stayed over in the Vieux Lyon area across the river for the ambiance. Otherwise, there several nice areas.

And, I agree with others saying to take the train.

Thank you all for your response. I will do the train! (It is actually less than 1/2 the price, so even better!)
