Fly into Marseille or Nimes to get to Rognonas

Hello
We will be flying from Ajaccio Corsica to mainland France to begin a 5 night stay in a gite very near to Rognonas. WE will be renting a car.I am debating whether to
Land in Marseille , take train to Avignon, rent a car there and continue onto our accommodation
OR
Land in Nimes, train to Avignon, rent car and continue onto our accommodation
OR
Land in Nimes, rent car and drive to accommodation.

Nimes was not really on our radar to stay so were just looking for the easiest drive and quickest option. I know there would be lovely things to experience there but we only have 5 nights for the Provence part of our trip.

The airport in Nimes is very small, are there even flights to Nîmes out of Corsica?

I would just land in Marseille, rent the car there, and drive 1 hour. Easy peasy, and there are tons of car rental options at Marseille airport, so rates can be competitive when it's not peak season like the middle of summer.

The train ride is really unnecessary, it will make your journey a lot longer and the drive is easy motorway.

What Balso said. Marseille airport is north of the city. From there you have a short drive to Avignon.
