Any information about the terrible flooding in areas outside of Paris?
The rivers are receding and there's lots of clean up ahead.
"areas outside of Paris" covers a very wide territory. If you can be more specific about where you plan on heading, it would be easier to help you.
Were just there....got home last night. The Seine is really up.....the Louvre and Orsay were closed while we were there (6/3-6/7)...the museums looked fine from the outside to us but we heard that the reason they closed was because they were using all of their employees to move antiquities from the basements upstairs to prevent damage. Everyone in Paris is consumed with the Seine......the residents were all standing at the bridges oogling and taking pictures!
Chambord in the Loire Valley was closed and we did not get to see it.....but the rest of the csatles were open. We had to take at least 5 detours driving back to our Amboise hotel last Thursday from Cheverny.....roads closed everywhere!
Thank you, Jane. Am planning to be based in Paris and travel to Chartres as well as Vaux le Vicomte and Fontainebleau in late June. Nothing I can find related to conditions in these areas.
Fontainebleau got a good soaking, but should be dry enough to visit when you arrive in late June.
The quickest way to get information is to check the FaceBook and Twitter pages of any attractions you're interested in seeing. Unfortunately, it costs a lot of money to update each official website.
