WITHDRAWN Flight personnel file strike notice for Jan 3

Edit Dec 26: the union representing the biggest number of “navigating” personnel has withdrawn its strike notice.

Good news for air travelers for Jan 3!

Today press is reporting that several unions representing flight personnel (flight attendants and pilots) have filed a notice to strike on January 3 (also regarding their concern for their pension plans).

They have given the government an ultimatum to respond to them by Dec 23, so if they find satisfaction then, they could withdraw their filing and cancel their strike plans.

But keep it in mind .

Sorry to be the bearer of more bad news. Will update as more information becomes available.

Thanks but this is too vague to report. You could be scaring people with travel plans unnecessarily.

or possibly necessarily.

Being forewarned of a strike is being forearmed.

Based on experience I see it as forwarned is forearmed. People who have travel plans can keep a close eye on it to act appropriately as things evolve. I was flying to Greece in 2014 and because I was forwarned that Air France Pilots were striking I was able to get a different flight no problem a week before my actual flight. Those who did not know about it ahead of time didn't find out about it until 24 hours before and lost an entire travel day because of it as most flight options had already been booked up by people like myself.

With how the government has been acting towards other unhappy parties (I.e. not bending), my guess is that on December 24 we will indeed get word that these folks are striking on January 3.

Of course I could be wrong but I don’t put things out there without considering analytically their likelihood of becoming reality within the context and considering the sources. Anyone reading is welcome to take it or leave it as they wish.

We are scheduled to arrive on January 3rd. Will it just be the flight attendants and pilots, or are the controllers and ground crew included in this announcement? We are arriving by transatlantic flight and I know those get top landing priority, but I'm concerned about being redirected elsewhere and having to find our way to Paris with the roads blocked.

the January Air France flight attendant & pilot strike announcement

There is no strike announcement by the pilots in the link provided above. It might not make a lot of difference if the Flights Attendants go forward with a work action but the pilots have announced February 3rd as their strike date.

Kim and Ashley,

Thank you both for all your efforts over the past month with strike information.

Kim- it is NEVER to early to present information (announcements). Please ignore the naysayers and accept our collective thanks!

Travel safe,

One Fast Bob
