Flea Markets in Paris

So funny, a friend JUST emailed me this tip after I sent him some questions of things to do in Paris:

Here is a pretty comprehensive list of flea markets in Paris. It's in French, but it's easy enough to decipher even if you're not able to read French.

The big one of course is St. Ouen -- and a more manageable one is Porte Vanves.

But there are few bargains at these Fleas; every amazing deal I have gotten has been at a vide grenier -- basically garage sale type sales that pop up from time to time. Lots of junk; lots of people who haul the same trash from neighborhood sale to neighborhood sale -- but also the occasional bargain. I got 4 very nice Champagne flutes at one in. Batignolles last year for 15 Euro -- cost me more for the plastic refrigerator storage boxes I needed to transport them home in my luggage. I have gotten some great costume jewelry and a really nice watch for 10 Euro that still works great and looks great 15 years later.

I am flea market obsessed and I find my best tips on Instagram. There are several accounts (English speakers) who live in Paris and are as obsessed as I am. Quintessentiallyfrench is a good one, for example.

I like Port Vanves. I also agree with janettravels that the pop up garage sale “markets” can be hit or miss, but sometimes a treasure can be found. Last year I found a vintage Parisian leather jacket in excellent condition that fit perfectly. I looked at the labels to verify it was actually leather. It has suede accents. I paid a whopping €10 for it. I was shocked that it was so inexpensive.

Look for Vide-Grenier. I think it means clean out the attics.
We were lucky to have had one then St Germain. They usually post them. Look for signs.

The one that connects Mouffe with the Place Monge Food Market is worthy. One could see a couple photos of it in our recent 'We'll Always have Paris' TR here.
As already mentioned above Ouen is the granddaddy of them all.
