Five nights on the French Riviera

We had to reschedule our Best of Eastern France tour and now will end on the 4th of July in Marseilles. We will have five nights until we fly out of Nice and are looking at places to base ourselves for that time. I actually took this same tour in 2009 and have been to Nice and Villafranche Sur Mer. We would like to stay somewhere smaller than Nice and are interested to hear feedback from those that have stayed in some of the smaller to medium sized towns on the Côte d'Azur. We are open to a hotel, apartment or house. We are looking for somewhere with great ocean views and some nice restaurants.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Hi there,
Look into Antibes, I loved it there. It is also off the train line so you can do day trips as needed.

Acquaintances of mine used to winter in Menton and loved it. It is very close to the Italian border which is very tempting.

Thank you ladies. These are both very different and intriguing options. I like the idea of Antibes being easily accessible for public transport, yet Menton is way off the beaten path and looks like a perfect decompress location for nothing but sun and sand. Decisions, decisions..... ;-)

I love St Maximes... nice size beach town with good restaurants, shopping, market and a wonderful beach with a carousel. Plenty of nice hotels as well.

All of these places look great ! here is another - St Jean Cap Ferrat - really cute with loads of charm . However , as with every place , look at the prices .

And I'll add yet another place to consider - Juan-les-Pins. Of all the Côte d'Azur towns on the water, this was my favorite (along with Monaco, which doesn't feel like a small town due to its density and high rise buildings).
