My partner and I will be spending a few days in Paris after already having visited Christkindlemarkts in Germany and before I return home via London. This will be my first time in Paris during the Advent celebrations in Europe. Is anyone able to assist me in developing an agenda for 2-3 nights. I have been to Paris twice before in summer and fall.
Thanks for any assistance
Rick's Paris book has a brief (5-page) chapter on winter visits. Don't expect a lot of special events at that time. St. Nicholas Day on Dec. 6 is the start of some activities. Ice rinks and carousels probably will be set up in a few locations, such as in front of the Hotel de Ville (city hall). The chateau of Vaux-le-Vicomte opens on weekends with holiday décor.
I went that same week a few years ago and loved being there without the crowds of summer. There were a few markets and they were nothing like the Xmas markets of Germany. I did expect more holiday decorations, but I guess when you have a city that is already beautiful you don't need a lot. Did go to Versailles one afternoon and with no lines and no one there I was glad I saw it. I don't need to return and would not have enjoyed It with crowds. I love that it gets dark early... Because after all, it is the city of lights.
