First trip to France Itinerary

For our 10 year wedding anniversary, We have decided to go to France. My husband has been to Paris but I’ve never been to France at all. We are interested in all the red wine, castles, outdoor, art, and history. Our anniversary is May 26 so looking for a nice restaurant recommendation in Amboise.

We are looking to fly into Paris and out of Geneva as we would like to see the alps a bit on our last few days, do some hiking and slow down before coming home.

Thoughts on the itinerary below? Has anyone done day trips to Italy or Switzerland by car from Chamonix?

Even though your husband has been to Paris, I would recommend spending more nights in Paris since you have not been there. It is a beautiful city with so many wonderful sites, museums, cafes, and neighborhoods for exploring. With your current itinerary, you will just be getting over jetlag and then it will be time to move on to Amboise. We also really enjoyed the Loire Valley, and we stayed in Blois. I haven't been to Beaune or Chamonix so I can't comment on those places. But I do wonder if you will regret not spending more time in Paris.

Thank you! You are probably right. I’ll consider taking a day from Amboise and or Beaune and adding it to Paris.
