We will be renting a rural house in near Quimper Feb-March. Any links to festivals, events, etc? We hope to catch a futbol game or 2, as this is the season. We will probably lease a vehicle, since our residence is not in a town.
I visited Finisterre in early March, and while it was windy and quiet, that added to its charm. Many businesses were still closed, but the scenery was stunning and uncrowded. If you're into reflection and photography, it’s a great time. I planned the trip much like I manage campaigns in Phonexa—timing and audience matter just as much as the destination.
Hi In February or March there aren't many festivals in Finistère, it's not the season, and for weekend entertainment, it's a bit too early to look for them. Near Quimper, there is still the Douarnenez carnival, which is called "les gras", and which is very famous for its atmosphere. It's from February 14th to 17th. On the other hand, beer or cider flows freely there! A little before, you could search on the internet for the keyword "Fest noz Finistère". It means night party in Breton and these are traditional music festivals, with dancing. It will be the school holidays, and there will be some tourists. If you visit tourist places like Locronan, the walled city of Concarneau, or Pont Aven, you will find more entertainment on weekends than during the week and more craft shops open. Otherwise, people go to the coast a lot, especially when the wind is strong, to see the waves. The best place is the Pointe de la Torche, and there will probably be surfers, who can be seen very well from the rocks. The "Pointe du Raz", the "Pointe du Van" and the Crozon peninsula are also worth a visit. Otherwise, in Quimper, for rainy days, there is a cinema (Le katorza) that often shows films in English with subtitles.
At the end of February or beginning of March the weather can be pleasant and almost spring-like, but it can also be cold or even rainy and windy.
There are also of course all the museums, in Quimper, Concarneau, and "Océanopolis" in Brest. Finistère is a very populated region, especially the south coast, there are many ports, so even if it is winter, it will not be dead, and the pretty town of Quimper is very commercial and very lively.
So, here are some ideas, but really, for festivals, I don't see much, and yet, I am from Quimper, and I go there quite often out of season.
