Finding a private guide in Normandy

We plan to travel to Normandy from Paris airport and want to find a guide for one or two days to help us.

My guide recommendation is

They are located in Normandy, so you would need to arrange your transportation there. We toured with them in 2014, and they were excellent. I have recommended them to other people on this site and have heard back that they were also very happy with their tour. They will customize your tour to fit what your are interested in and are a little more reasonably priced than some. It would be even a better deal if you were willing to be paired with another couple to share the cost. The owners both worked for Overlord Tours (the big tour operator in this area) . The problem with a big operator is that you don't know who will be your tour guide and how many will be on the tour. (I don't know if they even do private tours) In 2012, we were not impressed with our guide at all. (She was sick that day, so just our luck. She mostly just drove us around to sites and didn't give us much information.) Anyway, our tour in 2016 was much more what we wanted out of D-Day tour Have a great time.

We just used Albion, https://www.albion-voyages.com/home/ , the end of September and they were great. Fabian picked us up at CDG airport and drove us to the Chateau we were staying at. We even stopped along the way at a wonderful bakery for morning pastry and coffee . Francois picked us up the next day and took us on a wonderful tour of Normandy for a full day. Very informative and pleasant. The next day David drove us from Normandy to Paris with a two hour stop at Giverny to tour Monet’s house and garden. We set up a private guide by the name of Patricia to tour Giverny. Found her on Rick Steves site.

I highly recommend Albion.. Our daughter recommended them to us.

We hired Sylvain Kast for our private tour and he was fabulous! Sylvain was knowledgeable, passionate, professional and he went above and beyond other tour guides that we have used. He will communicate with you ahead of your tour to determine the things/places that you wish to see, as well as suggesting things you may not have considered. Our day with Sylvain was the highlight of our trip to Normandy. Highly recommended ! http://www.d-day-experience-tours.com/

I'm sure the others mentioned were good, but if they are booked, I highly recommend Alan Bryson of
Firstnormandybattlefieldtours.com He's passionate and extremely knowledgeable.

He works out of Bayeux and is recommended in Rick Steves' recent France book.
