I arrive at CDG about 6:30 am. Was thinking of going to hotel (6th arrond.) to drop off bags and the head to the catacombs as they are not on the tour. I need to be back at the hotel by 5 for the start of the tour. Is that a reasonable plan? I’m not sure how much time to allot for the catacombs. Thanks for any advice!

Hi, which RS France tour are you joining? If it’s the Best of Paris, I would recommend going to the catacombs during one of your free afternoons, instead. But, if you’re doing one of the tours which is only in Paris a short time, then do it. The reason I make the distinction is that arrival day is hard to be indoors and make the switch over to the Paris time-of-day if you’re indoors away from sunlight.

If possible, arrive a day earlier to get over jet lag before your tour.

It is an excellent plan. Estimate about two hours at the site plus time to get there and back.

It sounds like you already have flights scheduled. I would assume you would be at your hotel no later than 10-10:30. From 10:30 to 5:00 is a long time to fill up, especially after your plane trip over and probably poor rest on Board, unless you are not phased by overseas travel. You will have plenty of time for a catacomb tour and then some. I suggest just a nice walk in Luxembourg Gardens and see how your time availability is after that. You'll want and need time for a refresh before 5:00. Enjoy.
