Our visit to Paris this year coincides with Fete de la Musique on June 21st. Has anyone experienced this event? I am hoping for input about particularly lovely locales for enjoying the music. Music genres aren't particularly important but jazz, gypsy jazz, salsa, flamenco are ones that I like.
I saw the Emily in Paris episode in which the characters participate in music along the Seine, which looked lovely. But other areas of Paris likely to have music that are beautiful.
There was music everywhere when I went several years ago- market streetd, in squares, etc. You should be able to find events pretty easily close to wherever you’re staying
I was in Paris for this one year. It’s really wonderful. There is music everywhere. We just wandered around that evening, stopping and listening as we pleased. You’re lucky you’ll be in Paris for it!
I was there in 2018 and did what Valerie did. It was a nice day/evening.
The event schedule for the "Fête de la Musique" is available here (for Paris and the surrounding area).
It will be updated regularly.
We wandered around during Fete Musique 15 years ago -- Lots of little pick up groups here and there. The more formal venues were swamped. we couldn't get into the one at the Louvre. It is the only time I have seen drunks fighting in the streets of Paris

La Fête de la Musique has changed tremendously since Covid, much less 15 years ago. Use the schedule JoLui has shared for best results.
I've been in Paris many times on June 21st, so last summer wasn't my first experience. We saw a variety of musical genres outside in squares and inside churches and other buildings until sundown. But then after sunset at 10 pm, a lot of electric club music with djs moved out into the streets with large audiences. We were dining in Saint Germain as we watch the ambience change and caught a bus after 10 back to our hotel near the Gare de Lyon, driving along the left bank where large groups and music stages were outside the clubs the whole way. The bus driver said he was done for the night as RATP was yanking the buses off the route early.
So depending on what kind of music you like, there's something for everyone.
