Favourite destinations of yours for two-three days in early March, leaving from Paris

My husband and I just booked a last-minute trip from Canada to London for early March. Leaving our small kids at home for the first time ever! We would like to head to France on the Eurostar and spend two days in Paris and two or three days....somewhere else. I thought about the Champagne region, but it sounds like the weather there may be rough and some of the tasting rooms may be closed, or booked with such short notice.

Where would YOU go if you were me? What have your favourite short trips been from Paris, in consideration of March weather?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I would be willing to rent a car if it would help us see more of your favourite region.

Looks like a lovely area, thanks for the reply. I can see I have some research to do.

Is the Loire Valley going to be drab and colourless that time of year, or will the scenery still be beautiful despite the colder temperatures? Not expecting any flowers, of course!

Versailles or the LOire Valley, easily done by train.

to my knowledge no place short trips from Paris are reputed as having great weather in March; but I come from Chicago and it is more green in the Loire compared to Chi at that time of year.
maybe go to the Perigord region; I went there about a month ago, lovely area not many tourists; but that is 5 hours south from Paris

Yes, sigh, I know you are right about the weather. I guess I will have to look for a cozy hotel with a fireplace so we can warm up at night!

Perigord looks like it might be more comfortable temperature-wise, but less practical for our time frame. We could fly directly further south rather than taking the Eurostar from London, but my husband has never been to Paris, and doesn't want to miss the chance to see it.

We are obviously fine with cold weather being from Ottawa but it would be nice to have a break from that.

All of the countryside is drab and colorless that time of year except where the air is dry and the sun shines through along the Riviera or the southern tip of Provence. I’ve spent many winters visiting family in different areas of France. If your husband has never been to Paris, why give it only two days. There’s enough to see and do for months and months in the City of Lights. Or, fly to Nice for the whole time you are in France if you want color and sun that time of year.
