Alto Resto. You will be glad you went. Reservations encouraged.

There’s also Lou Pistou. The original owners retired after several decades running their small bistrot. The new owners relocated nearby, but have maintained a welcoming atmosphere, engaging menu, and quality food.

What type of restaurant are you looking for? Cuisine, price point? Any of the Armand Crespo restaurants are a good bet for quality for price: Bar des OIseaux, Comptoir du Marche, Peixes, Bistrot d'Antoine.... from there, the list rapidly expands. If you intend to grab lunch at Le Plongeoir, reserve early.

Old Town/Vieux Nice is your place for the best barhopping. Start with the apero along Rue des Ponchettes (e.g, Movida, Babel Babel) and then migrate inland later. (The Port is also popular). Venue can depend on what you are looking for....

And when you don’t want to tuck in your shirt and your wallet is feeling a little flat, head to Chez Moi. Solid 33 euro three course fixe prixe dinner. Market based choices for each category are scribbled on the wall. If the ambient pirate’s den lighting makes it too hard to read. Feel free to scrunch a wine jug candle a bit closer to read the menu. Most nights the proprietor himself is proudly serving guests, chatting up the tables and topping up your wine glass on the house. At least that’s how I remember it the past few visits. I did say he was topping up wine glasses didn’t I?

I really liked Di Piu right along the Promenade des Anglais very close to the Opera House. Great menu and nice portion sizes. Get there right when they open so you don't have to wait too long...the place gets jam-packed. Patio is nice.
