We have decided to do a full week in a gite outside Martel and do daytrips from there to see the small towns and do some light hiking. I have found a couple of links on line for hikes but would love to hear from folks on favorite walks (less than 10 miles, loops preferred) in and around the small towns of that area. We will have a car to get to trailheads. Thank you.

@treemoss2-Yes, thank you. I have not yet signed up for alltrails (I use trailforks for mountain biking). I was just curious to hear from people about their favorite walks too! Sometimes people can have great personal stories and the apps can be tough to sift through.

Since no one has a hike to recommend, here are a few from Martel:

Check only "Randonnées Pédestres" (walking hike), VTT are by mountain bike.
If you are tired of walking you can also try horseback riding at the Chadenac ranch, less than 20 minutes from Martel:
