Fast train Paris to Avignon mid-July

A month or so ago, I checked TGV and SNCF sites for trains from Paris to Avignon mid-July. There was a 2-hour train, no stops, but it was too early to book.
now I checked and I can book, but the only trains are 3hours + and a connection - is there any explanation for this? Should I wait and see if the two-hour train comes back mysteriously (just as it went away mysteriously)??

That one + hour is not a huge deal, just was really looking forward to the fast train.

Thanks, all,
Rachel

PS I have been on "chat" with an agent who says that all summer routes and schedule are not uploaded yet - if I check back I might find fast train....worried that if I don't book these (price is right), I'll lose out.

And just now he replied "Best to book early" - so I think that's what I"ll do.

Unless someone advises otherwise :)

Two years ago (2017). I booked a TGV direct from Paris to Avignon. I don’t recall stoping. And we sure didn’t stop for long if we did. I bought my tickets sometime in early July for a Mid Sept trip. And I had no issues and a couple times to choose from.
Obviously things can change in 2 years but just to give you an idea.

Maybe you looked earlier at schedules to the Avignon TGV station and are now seeing schedules with the connection to the Avignon Centre station. Those trains running direct to Avignon TGV take 2h 40m with no intermediate stops at all (never mind connections).

As Laura said, be careful which station you route to - the fast trains go to Avignon TGV, and then it is just a hop into town by the connecting shuttle train.
