Was talking to a friend and mentioned we are going France this Fall, she said many years ago, they went to France and stayed s few times at a chain of hotels called Fast Hotels .....
Did a search and found what seem to be budget pricing and convenience close to highways, etc
Anybody have any experience with these ? Thanks
Yes, but it was years ago.
I found them clean, efficient and convenient if you were traveling by car.
They are usually out on the highway, very rarely close in to city centers.
Formule 1 was a similar operation, and there were (are) several other brands throughout Europe.
I used Forumla 1 in the past. The price per room is the same whether you have 1, 2, or 3 people inside, so I probably would have used them more if I were not traveling solo. The room was clean and modern and (even before the internet) the check-in system was very automated. Ibis Budget is another major chain.
We loved the Fast Hotel chain in France. The trade off for the low prices, though, is that they are usually outside towns in industrial parks or near major Autoroute exits. They'd be impractical without a car.
Compared to Formule 1' they usually have attractive grounds, a bar and maybe a basic restaurant. They also have bathrooms en suite (though very small). The rooms we've had have been very quiet. We meet a lot of travelers enjoying their ability to have a low cost tour driving tour through France.
