Fare Sale -- French Railways (SNCF)

There's a banner ad currently on the SNCF website (choose the British flag, not "Rest of World"), saying that all fares purchased today (Wednesday French time) are 25 GBP off. Alas, I'm not ready to buy any tickets yet, but perhaps someone else is. Seems like this could save a great deal for someone buying tickets for a family, in particular.

The banner also says there will be "A new deal every Wednesday throughout February".

Happy shopping!

Edited to add:

I'm not seeing that banner on the direct English-language site, so I'm not sure what's going on. I haven't tried comparing prices.

Acraven,

I think it's important to read the terms and conditions of this promotion:

THE BORING BITS YOU NEED TO KNOW

The promo code is valid for:

  • All fares (except passes) bought on 8th February 2017.

  • Travel between 8th February 2017 - 22nd March 2017.

  • The promo code can only be applied to a single booking.

  • First and second class tickets.

  • Minimum spend is £70 per booking.

  • For full terms and conditions, see (1).

This may be a good promotion for last minute train tickets, however, if you're planning to travel in France, you may buy discounted tickets for much less than what this promotion is offering by booking your tickets 92 days in advance.

It's odd that this offer does not appear in the French or English SNCF website

One more thing to consider... I'd rather pay with € than with £ .... Better exchange rate! ;-)

The prices are better on Trainline formally Captain Train.

Thanks for catching that, Priscilla. I didn't think about doing a test booking; I should have.
