Fall Festivals

Looking to find good local food, wine or folklore festivals in France in the Fall, particularly September and early October. Would like to identify those festivals held in villages and smaller towns, not those in large cities. Would appreciate recommendations and shared experiences.

You might look into the websites of tourist information offices in areas you are interested in. Many of them also have email subscriptions you can sign up for announcements. For Provence for example there is a larger one https://provence-alpes-cotedazur.com/en/ or smaller ones https://www.aixenprovencetourism.com/en/events/, https://www.alpillesenprovence.com/en/agenda/ or https://uk.luberoncoeurdeprovence.com/page/translate+63388.html

Most village and small town festivals and fairs take place in July and August.
There may be some in connection with the harvest in September in the wine regions.

To my knowledge there is no source of information that lists all the festivals and fairs in France (apart from the major fairs in the major cities)

So the best solution is, as Laurie Ann says, to find out from the tourist offices or official websites of the places and regions where you plan to go.
Maybe you will find a country ham festival or a competition for the best cabbage soup in a small remote village, with local orchestra and dances in regional costume. (and with real grandfathers wearing real berets, not the ones you see in Woody Allen movies)
