Eze

Hi,

I’m planning to visit the Côte d’Azur in July. Would you all recommend spending a couple nights in Eze? We are looking for something with views, a little less developed than bigger cities.

If not, any recommendations for something relaxing and near the water we could make as a base (or do along with Eze)? We will be coming off a hiking trip, so largely just want to enjoy the scenery.

Thanks!

Eze is small, relaxing, has great views, and being on a hilltop, is not near water. It's a bit isolated, which can work for or against you, depending on what you're seeking.

From Eze, there are buses to Eze bord de mer (on the coast), Nice, and Monaco - that's it. The frequency of these buses is greatly reduced on Sundays. If you won't have your own car and the buses don't meet your needs, you'll have to take taxis, which are expensive on the Cote d'Azur.

If you're looking to relax and are satisfied with a small place and limited transit, Eze can work (it's lovely). If you want something on the water, look at not only Antibes, but also Juan-les-Pins. They're larger than Eze, not the size of Nice, and they have train as well as bus service to other places on the Cote D'Azur. Juan-les-Pins has the advantage of a sandy beach (many other towns in the area have rocky beaches).

Eze is gorgeous and truly a piece of time. People on this forum also love St. Paul de Vence, Villefrance sur mur and Haute Cagnes. I have been to all of these towns except St Paul and that happens to be the one that I feel gets the most recommended.
