We have been invited to join friends who rented a house in the village of Eygalieres in Provence. Leaving tomorrow! Not able to find much information on it beyond it being described as "picture-postcard" Provence location. We are flying Dublin to Lyon, then train to Avignon, then bus to this village. Has anyone been to this locale?
Not that village specifically but we spent a month in nearby Maussane les Alpilles in summer of 2022. There are endless choices within a 1 hour drive or even less, such as the market at St Remy, the castle of Les Baux, roman ruined city of Glanum, Van Gogh's asylum, hill towns of the Luberon and many more. A good tourism resources is the website of the area https://www.alpillesenprovence.com/en/explore-the-alpilles/
Here is some very local info:
Starting next Saturday, there is a small festival in Eygalières (featuring music, dance, and exhibitions) called the "Festival sous les feuilles d'automne" (Festival Under the Autumn Leaves).
The municipality's website provides some information (in French) about the village's historical monuments and sites worth visiting.

The Eygalières local market takes place every Friday morning.
As you leave Eygalières on the Sounègues road (D24B), you will find the old Sounègues washhouse (dating back to the 18th century), where women used to wash their laundry.

You might have already left by then, but on Sunday the 11th, the annual vide-grenier (flea market/garage sale) will be held in Saint-Andiol—10 km away—in the Château Park. Make sure to bring cash if you want to browse for bargains.

The weather will be good until Wednesday 7, After that, the local Mistral wind is going to pick up and you might get a few showers.
We visited the village of Eygalieres about 20 years ago in June for lunch on our drive through the countryside. It was a quiet village back then. We were based in Arles and the surrounding towns mentioned by JoLoi are great to visit. I suggest the RS Provence guidebook for these towns.
PS: sorry, that was in Laurie Ann's post.
We have visited Eygalieres several times when our daughter lived in Provence. We love Eygalieres!!! It is a quiet village that is not crowded with tourists. You probably won't hear any English spoken. You will hear mainly French and other European languages. Eygalieres has a wonderful market every Friday. And many of the restaurants serve a very special white fish dish that is only served on Fridays. The fish is baked in parchment paper with vegetables. Delicious!
Make sure you take a walk to the ruins of a church on top of the hill. It is a lovely walk with gorgeous views once you reach the top.
You will probably see locals playing a game of petanque during your wanderings. Eygalieres is in a convenient location. You can easily visit St. Remy, Mouries, and more.
Thank you all for the responses. We stayed in a beautiful house in Eygalieres--great restaurants (dining and ice cream), view from hilltop, and heritage festival with everyone in period costume of early 1900s. We visited six towns and two wineries while we were there. Wonderful Provence trip.
