Expired Paris Museum Pass

Hi,

The Paris museum pass website (http://en.parismuseumpass.com/rub-u-old-version-and-new-pass-28.htm) states that unused expired passes (circa 2008) can be exchanged for the latest pass by individuals . It actual shows a picture of the pass I purchased back then (A lopped of Mona in the middle of the pass).

Their email response, however, says that no expired passes can be exchanged. Second email was unanswered. Has anyone tried exchanging old museum passes?

Museum passes are purchased for a specific number of days (2, 4, or 6 days) and are activated the first day they are used. If a 2 day pass is activated on a Tuesday, it will "expire" at midnight on Wednesday. After that you can either throw it away or keep it as a souvenir. If you want to "renew" it, you have to purchase another one. I don't see how exchanging an old expired pass for a new one would work.

It does say, "possible exchange under special terms", so I would guess your pass does not meet their requirements.

Bob, I haven't tried to exchange a pass but the website actually states that, "If you are a private individual and you still have copies of the 2006-2009 version, it can still be exchanged but conditions do apply." They do not say what those are but it's possible that yours fell under a non-exchangeable condition of some sort.

I would take it with you to Paris and see if you have any luck in person.

Following the * after Under Special Terms, it stated 'For private individuals only', so I am assuming I qualify.

So, are you saying you never used any part of the pass? Usually, you either write the date of your first Museum/site visit or the site stamps it, and that starts the clock ticking, for however many days it's valid. However, if you never used it for any sites, I would think you might qualify.

Perhaps scan it and send them a copy of your 'unwrapped' pass and see if they change their mind. Or as already suggested, bring it with you and see what happens.

I'd bring it with you - in the individual wrapper it came in. And exchange it with the agent.
