Can anyone who has traveled to France recently comment on how the automated passport gates at CDG immigration are working? Has it made the lines move more quickly?
Thanks very much.

We arrived CDG this summer and went through the automated gates. Lines were ok ( but this was at 8 am)
One note of caution - if u have a kid - the kid has to walk by themselves into booth with their passport in hand.
Are there both manned and automated passport gates in CDG?
My wife and I went through in July at Terminal 2A around 9:45 am, no real issues and once it was scanned you went to a both to get your passport stamped. For wait, I would say the most 5 minutes but we were one of first off the plane.
Yes, I had a good experience on Monday Sept 26 at around 9A as I transited from 2E to 2F. Here's what I wrote in a recent Trip Report:
"Literally no line as there I was directed to the egates. I was behind 2 Brits but he was still getting himself recombobulated after security so they laughingly waved me ahead as he belted his jeans on. Border control employee inserted my passport saying “It’s touchy, let me do it for you”. A quick Bonjour to the Border Control stamp guy and I was off."
This literally took 5 minutes and it would have taken 3 if I had been alert enough to pull down my mask when I entered the cubicle where your picture is taken.
Just went through the custom gates in late September. Both the manned gates and the automated passport gates were working fine. Long lines, but that's normal. Try to get Global Entry if you can.

Global Entry is a nice feature, but what does it have to do with entry at CDG?
We arrived Oct 1 and there were no automatic gates where we were. There very very very long lines but no one in the expedited line. We had upgraded to business and so walked up to that line waved our boarding passes and were right through -- we just had to wait for one family that had been waved sideways into that line because the agent was free. At least where we came in with UA there was no automated passport control.
In the US on the other hand with Global Entry, you use automated stations and zip right through. We have yet to wait in a line for a station in several international trips in the last few years.
@lindy - I am sure there are manned gates, but the default way, it seemed to me, was a short line ( at least at 8 am) to an automated scanning booth.
On the way back from CDG to IAD, however, the lines were CRAZY long ( in Aug - peak season, mind u). So I would leave more time for that. A long line for immigration and after that even a longer line for security!
Thanks very much for all your replies. It is very helpful.
