Excursions from Montpellier

I'm in the early stages of planning a trip in mid-June next year in which I would have one or two whole days in Montpellier, plus a couple of half-days - a morning and an afternoon - on either side of 4or 5 nights in Olargues. I don't drive and would be getting to and from Olargues by local bus. I have identified preferred accommodation in both Montpellier and Olargues but haven't made firm bookings yet.

Two places I'd like to get to from Montpellier are St Guilhem le Desert and the Abbaye de Valmange, and possibly also Maguelone. I can see the Montpellier Tourist Office offers a day-trip to St Guilhem, but that's only on Fridays. There is also a bus that runs from Montpellier to St Guilhem May-June Saturdays and Sundays only, with 7 hours there (too long?).
What about the Abbaye de Valmange? Any tourist office trips, or bus connections? Train to Sete, but that's 23 km away.

Your choices are good, but you might also consider Nimes and Pont du Gard and or La Camargue. I've always had a car, so not sure what you can do using public transportation. Arles would also be doable from Montpellier. Have a great trip.

I visited both the Pont du Gard and Arles this summer. Montpellier has the best access to Olargues. Day trips out from Montpellier would be add-ons at either end of Olargues. The rest of my holiday is already booked in another part of France.
