Special thank you to all of the forum posters who helped me with my planning. I would tweak a few things here and there, but it was a near PERFECT vacation.
Paris> Lourdes> Pau> Rocamodour> Fanjeaux> Toulouse… wish I had about 3 more days to spend here.
So glad to hear you had a great trip.
Please - when you have time to reflect - post an update with all the wonderful details. Many of us are living vicariously for a bit longer.
Yes, please, jay. What quilter17 said. I’m currently one of those vicarious travelers, too!
Most of the information would be a repeat of most of the guide books… except for maybe two:
Rocamodour is hard to get to and seems to be popular only with EU tourists… BUT I LOVED IT. We did the whole pilgrimage thing just as they would have over 1000 miles ago. Then we visited small farms and cottage industries… the people were so nice. One farmer actually invited us for coffee. By the end of the visit, we invited him to join us in Tx and stay at our house.
Fanjeaux is a place probably few if any Americans visit. Not much to see unfortunately. But I did meet a local woman who spoke very decent English… and she kinda became our tour guide. She could charge for this service. Finally that dinky town has one restaurant… AND IT WAS THE BEST FOOD I ATE IN FRANCE.
