We will be crossing to Evian from Lausanne by ferry and want to stay 2 days. Can anyone recommend sightseeing, please?
It's really not that large of a town, some interesting Palais, a nice central street, and some grand hotels to stay out from its history as a spa town. A good day trip is the ferry to Yvoire, which is very charming.
Thank you very much.
We took a delightful day trip from Lausanne, Switzerland to Evian-les-Bains, France in July. The ferry ride across the lake is absolutely stunning on a clear day.
Once in Evian, we wandered around the cute French town and visited a Farmer's market. There are a lot of little shops to peek into and a very popular ice cream shop. Our lunch was at a fun Moroccan restaurant.
The famous thermal baths offer free tours of the spa. If you are interested in booking a service, you will probably need to do that in advance.
We rode a historic, little funicular up the to the top of the hill with a beautiful view of the lake. There is a little cafe as well as a park for picnics. Walking down the hill, we stopped on the way to drink water from the original Evian source.
Dinner was outside on a pretty terrace. I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but we chose it by simply walking around and looking at the posted menus.
In the evening, we took the Ferry back to our hotel in Lausanne.
Thank you so much Christine for the information. It is quite helpful. It is a smaller town that I thought.
If you have the time and a car, Annency is about 70 minutes away. Not sure if there is public transportation available.
Thank you very much, Annecy is on our agenda. There is a train line that opened later part of last year from Lausanne that connects in Geneva to Annecy from what I understood. In cooperation with the Swiss and French railways. I am so looking forward to it.
Evian to Annecy takes about two hours by train changing at Annemasse.
Can't speak to Evian but nearby is Montreux, Switzerland and it has a beautiful lakefront promenade.
We have AirBNB reserve in Montreux. Thank you everyone for all your helps.
