Evening in the 7 ARR - Paris

We've seen posts about safe to amble about in the evening in Paris. Most refer to areas near the Siene or Latin quarter - perhaps 5th or 6th Arr. We will be staying closer to Champs du Mars... or middle of the 7th. How is walking about in the evening in this area?
We know the basics about being aware...

This is one of the more upscale neighborhoods in Paris. It is calm, calm, calm. Safe.

Very pretty too , Our hotel of choice is in the 7th , across from Les Invalides . Metro is La Tour Mauborg , one block from the hotel

Steven, do you mind telling me what hotel you use?

I'm basically a chicken. I travel solo and I do feel comfortable walking from Rue Cler area over to Tour Eiffel at night or to any of the restaurants in the area. The only thing I would not do solo is stop at an ATM but that is just me. If I were with another person I would not hesitate to do that either.

Andrea , the hotel is the Hotel de L'Empereur , 2 Rue Chevert 75007 . While a Rick choice , we actually found out about it from my brother several years ago . We love the place and have stayed several times , http://www.hotelempereurparis.com/ They also run the Hotel Muguet , just down the street which also looks great .

My wife and I have stayed in the 7th several times and have never felt unsafe walking around in the evening. I consider myself vigilant about unsafe situations and haven't had my alarms go off in the Champs du Mar neighborhood.

I stayed in the Hotel Muguet in Oct 2014 and found it to be very comfortable and in a safe area within walking distance of Rue Cler and the Eiffel Tower. In fact, I was on the Paris and the Heart of France tour and that was the hotel for the tour. I arrived 3 days early and walked about at night when I was on my own before the tour and did not feel uncomfortable.

Best,

Hi Catherine, I just wanted to "second" the recommendation for the Hotel de L'Empereur. My friend and I stayed there the past two years based on reviews/recommendations from other Rick Steves travelers. We are booked there for 7 nights again this year. The hotel is neat and clean, great breakfast buffet (we were just reminiscing about it this morning!), and nice English-speaking staff.

I love the location in the 7th, just around the corner from the Invalides. It's also near the Rodin and Rue Cler. We walked to the Eiffel Tower every evening for dinner and to watch the illumination. Very safe area. Hope you have a great time in Paris!
