Eurostar ticket question

I have another question regarding my upcoming December trip, London/Paris. I am so grateful to all who’ve answered my recent questions on this trip.
Is it too soon to by my Eurostar tickets from London to Paris? Will tickets become more expensive if I wait? I will be traveling to Paris from London on December 14th.

I ran into this issue our Paris hotel. I reserved on Tuesday this week and yesterday the rates decreased slightly. Just wanting to make sure my timing is right. Thanks.

Buy early. They only get more expensive over time.

Is there a significant difference between standard and standard premier? I read the descriptions between the two on the Eurostar website but would like to hear from those who’ve taken the train.
I will take the advice and buy today.

Tickets get more expensive the longer you wait, and December is a huge time for people to visit London for Christmas festivities.

For a two-hour and twenty-minute train ride, I have never found anything more than Standard necessary.

Read and obey the timing for PRE boarding Immigration and Customs. They're not kidding.

"Is there a significant difference between standard and standard premier?"

I just had a quick look at the website Man in Seat 61 and it looks like Standard Premier has a row of single seats down one side of the car. If you are traveling solo, this may be important to you. For myself, since the pandemic, I've started booking Premier or First or whatever it's called if I can get a solo seat. I don't want to sit next to someone and I certainly don't want one of those tables for 4. There are also fewer people in that car so in my mind you have less exposure to bugs.

This may not bother you at all!

If you catch the prices early on there is usually not a huge difference in the 2 classes.

Standard is fine for most people, including people who are 6' 4" tall like my husband. I'd pay maybe $25 more for the upgrade to Standard Premier and right now the difference is almost $100. And forget it for Business Premier. It is important to arrive at Gare du Nord "early" as mentioned above. I've never missed a train from Gare du Nord but I know people who have because they did not visit https://www.eurostar.com/us-en/travel-info/your-trip/check-in the day before and the lead time had recently been increased.

Erica, definitely purchase your tickets as soon as possible. On another note you need to be in line at St. Pancras at least 2 hours before your train departs for security screening and clearing passport control.

The Man sees all, knows all. He can advise. There are also lots of Youtube videos from vloggers who take that run. In fact, there's one group of Brits (I think they work for Points Guy) who "raced" the train and the plane, and surprisingly they came out about the same.

Thanks everyone. I think we will go for standard. If we are hungry we can eat before or after and just take snacks if we feel the need to eat on the train. I will definitely be at St. Pancras 2 hours early at least. I am a planner and one who needs to be early to reduce anxiety of being late.

Oh, definitely get to St Pancras early as there are a number of food/snack outlets in the station. Even though it’s airline type security liquids are not restricted so you can take in drinks.

It can cost 3 or more times as much last minute -- huge difference. In fact, it is already probably too late to get the best ticket prices for those times.

Definitely get there when recommended; all immigration and emigration processes occur before boarding at each end and the lines can be long.

Bring your own picnic; the food available on the train is grim.

I do not agree that the food onboard is grim, sure they will get a Michelin star, but it isn't bad. But of course you can bring food with you as well. Just remember if you bring any food you probably need to eat it on the train or leave it on the train.

just remember that cross border travel no longer allows bringing in dairy or meat in either direction (but you can have up to 25kg of fish).
