Have the ETIAS requirements be rolled out yet? We will be returning to France soon and are slightly confused by all of the new types of visa requirements and who they apply to. Thanks for any suggestions.

ETIAS is not a visa. It is just pre-travel authorization. It is expected to start in the 4th quarter of 2026.

You will need EES, which is carried out as you enter France.

to be clear - you don't need an ESS - it's not a thing you apply for. It happens at the border where your passport is scanned, and your photo and fingerprints are taken.
Then the barriers don't work, and you have to see a border agent anyway!
