eSim card for southern France

My wife has to travel again to Toulon for work. While Airalo (eSim card) was reliable in Paris and Frankfurt; it never worked reliably in Toulon.

Does anyone have experience with a reliable eSim card service in Southern France??

Thank you!!!

I don’t have a suggestion, but we bought a SkyRoam (Solis Lite) and it works in over 130 countries. It’s a WiFi hotspot that pings off local cellular towers. Been using it for days now in England, Scotland, and Iceland with very few issues/outages.

Did you try registering your phone on a different mobile providers? Airalo does not has service in France - they have a roaming partner. There are several French mobile companies that have service throughout the country. Maybe in Toulon, their roaming partner didn't have good coverage where you were. But they may have more than one roaming partner. Sometimes you can go into your phone settings and try registering on a different mobile network and see if it works with Airalo. (I was able to do this in the past with T-Mobile roaming in Europe.)

Orange is one of French mobile companies, and they also sell eSIMs, so you could try them this time.

Hello - so I want to piggyback on this convo - looking for an esim for France (Paris) and Belgium- looks like orange will work - basically want the phone calls for emergency type purposes and the data for accessing metro / train info if I don't have wifi.

I have never used esim (or another SIM before) - how hard is it to set up an eSim for someone that isn't super technologically advance, (but not a complete idiot - haha) - I will be in Europe exactly 14 days, so if I get the eSim- can I set it up before I get to Europe and avoid the 14 day clock to start ticking? just wasn't sure when it actually starts.

thanks

It's pretty easy - you should be able to figure it out. They will send instructions to you on what settings to change. You can buy the eSIM ahead of time but you always want to wait till you're in the country to activate it - and that's when the clock starts ticking. I've been using the Orange Holiday sim over the last couple weeks in northern France (Lorraine) and in the Netherlands (good for 14 days, https://travel.orange.com/en/all-inclusive/orhldeur20gb/). It didn't work perfectly in Netherlands, but it was ok. It has worked great in France generally, but you do have to figure out how to correctly dial the location you want. It was pretty easy to set up if you follow the instructions.
