Entry into France

Hi! We will be traveling to London and Paris next week. We will be taking the eurostar from London to Paris. I am curious if France is requiring proof of vaccination upon entry to France. Would my digital proof through SMART health work?

You have two options when entering France:

1) prove you are fully vaccinated jn tbe French definition of the term -- this means you have received the initial one (Janssen) or two-shot (Pfizer or Moderna) vaccine series, plus an mRNA booster at least seven days ago; or

2) proof of a negative Covid test taken within the prior 48 (antigen) or 72 (PCR) hours.

As far as I know, no European countries recognize any US state's smart code. What they expect to see is your CDC card.

No!

Just did this an hour ago. For US citizens they want the card. No photos or apps

The man in front of me tried something on his phone and was told “no”. He did have a printout from his healthcare provider and that must have worked because he’s on the train. (He was pulled out of line for them to look at it)

I flew into CDG from London on 6/8 and was never once asked a single question about my vaccine status. The airline did not ask at check in and no one asked when going through immigration.

I always find these post where people say they weren’t checked interesting. Are you suggesting that other people should not worry about it because they won’t be checked?

Humans do make mistakes and it is possible that someone forgot to check your information, but the regulations are that you have to provide vaccination proof.

A propos the requirement for CDC card as proof of vaccination: What about using a photocopy (front and back) of the card? It looks like the real thing except not in the slightly heavier card stock. That's what I carry in my wallet, the original kept on file at home.

A photocopy may seem like a good idea but it just takes one officious official ...

We flew in to Rennes last month. They accepted by official digital confirmation from WA state at immigration.

Carol, if that question was directed at me, I am not suggesting anything. I am relaying information about my experience.

United Airlines accepted our California State Dept of Health QR code digital proof which included dates, type of vaccine, and personal info as well as at least 2 vaccines plus booster, just 2 weeks ago, to enter France. After that no one asked to see proof.

Present the vaccination documentation you have. I don´t know what SMART health is but CDC cards are going to be what agents see most often and are the least likely documentation format to be questioned.

The documentation/testing requirement is clearly stated by the French government as an entry condition. Experiences othewise might be interesting but it is not clear how they help kaileeprice97.
