Elegant Dress

I read the RS guide to Paris and choose a restaurant from his selection of ones in Rue Cler area. I made the reservations and it has 3$$$ beside it. But after making the reservations it now says elegant dress required. I have googled this term and found varying responses.
I am not wanting to pack dresses and heels and my husband does not want to bring a coat. So my question is has anyone eaten at Thoumieux and if so how strict are they to their elegant attire required?
We know how to look nice and dressed up without shorts tanks and flip flops but is it more than that?

I would contact the restaurant. It's possible that at other times they have a more casual dress code. For example, lunch or brunch.

We enjoyed a dinner here in 2001 and we definitely didn't wear dress or jacket, just nice top/sweater and trousers. There were others dining in similar attire as well as men in business suits. I've no idea if things have changed.

Maybe Google the restaurant and take a look at the photos. Click on "vibe" and see what diners have been wearing lately.

I haven’t been but I looked at their Instagram tags. Men are wearing shirts, no jackets. Women are in nice tops. Just make an effort to not look like you’re fresh from the gym and I reckon you’ll be fine.

I wouldn't equate 3$$$ as anything more than a nicer restaurant. I'd interpret it as you say "look nice and dressed up" collared shirts for men and nice top for ladies. I wouldn't overthink it. I didn't see anyone dressed other than that anywhere we went in Paris and we went to nice but not top exclusive kind of restaurants.

Never eaten here, but...have you perused review sites like TripAdvisor? I would give this place a hard pass...there are too many great places to eat in that area that have no such dress code, and they also don't have such mixed reviews for food and service, and multiple reviews suggest they have problems honoring reservations, a real red flag for me.

There is nowhere in Paris that requires a dinner jacket, outside of some special event. A sports coat, without tie, is fine for any restaurant, even private clubs.

Our elegant dress consists of my husband wearing a blazer maybe with tie, maybe without and me in black slacks and a nice top. We have never been underdressed for fancy dining. We don't do a lot of it, but usually one or two a trip and we are always in the top half of 'elegant dressers'. My husband travels with a jacket, but there will be plenty of men in nice sweaters or just shirts.

I paid attention at the opera the other evening too as people often ask about dress. Again we were in jacket for him and sort of dressy sweater cape thing for me and we were in the top third. We saw one woman in a gown - a young woman who clearly wanted to make an occasion of it. We saw lots of women looking smart, but int leather jacket or velvet coat or just elegantly cut suit -- but fancy dresses or tuxedos -- no.
