Elaine Sciolino is a fabulous journalist: I strongly recommend anything she writes.

I read Sciolino's book La Seduction: How the French Play the Game of Love. It explains French culture better than anything I've read. I bought the book at Shakespeare and Co. in Paris, getting the book store stamp in the inside front cover. On my list to read is The Only Street in Paris: Life on the Rue des Martyrs, also by Sciolino.

Thank you Steven, for the link and for gifting the article to those who don't have a subscription. Interesting article and I do enjoy her writing style.

I read Sciolino's Adventures in the Louvre before my last trip and will re-read it again before my next one...this time taking actual notes about what I want to see and how I want to see it! I loved the chapter on animals in Louvre art and am going to make that a mission next visit, hahaha! I also loved her chapter on what to do around the Louvre when it's closed!

I read Sciolino's book 'The Only Street in Paris' and then stayed on the rue des Martyrs.
I read her 'Adventures In the Louvre' and then tried to follow her recommendations as to what works of art in the Louvre deserve to be more famous than the Mona Lisa. That didn't work out so well, as the works were spread out between wings, and one of the wings where a couple were located was closed. Sciolino concedes in this book that the Louvre can be a hard place to love, and I concur. Once every ten years is enough for me.
I also recently read her 'The Seine: The River That Made Paris'.
I enjoyed her Louvre book the best, followed by the Seine book, and lastly the rue des Martyrs book.
