El Camino Santigo

I’m in the beginning of planning an El Camino walk. My sister, daughter & I will be traveling. We would like to start the walk in St Jean Pied de Port, walk about
12-15 miles a day for 3 days. After this we will fly to
Niece for a few days & then drive to Alessandra, near Geona, Italy. We drive thru Europe frequently.
Has anyone done this part of the trail & what villages did you spend the night. We would probably fly into somewhere in France & take train to St Jean de Pied Pourt. We have already traveled thru most of Spain.
Any info to help me organize would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

You may want to consider flying into Paris, staying near Gare Montparnasse and taking the TGV from there to Bayonne...a short hop and you're in St. Jean. Also, I recommend a book called Camino De Santiago Maps by Anna Dintaman and David Landis (Village to Village Press). It charts daily walks on the Camino from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela.
Three days of walking the Camino, starting from St. Jean should get you to Pamplona. You will encounter a steep walk the first day with considerable elevation change.

Hello from Wisconsin,

The land around St. Jean Pied de Port is beautiful. Salie-de-bearn is a good village with good restaurants.
