Eiffel Tower visit Bastille Week

Hoping to visit the Eiffel Tower with my husband and 3 children on July 15, 2015. I imagine Paris will be quite busy that time of year so I'd like thoughts on getting tickets ahead of time. I've gone on the site to book the ticket to the 2nd floor but only a few left at 10:30/11:00. I realize we should have done this long ago but just recently booked this trip. So I've been considering a lunch reservation to 58 Tour Eifel. Any pointers with this tactic or any other ideas we could consider to ensure we'll at least get to the 2nd floor?

You could consider paying the premium for the Skip the Line Tickets. I booked tickets through Fat Tire Bike Tour for an Eiffel Tower visit/tour at sunset at the end of June (59 euro for adults each but save 10% by booking with a code on Yelp). They also offer cheaper tickets for the Skip the Line feature only and you pick the time. It is obviously more expensive than booking through the official website but was worth for my family. Good Luck.

Or you could do as we did when there weren't any pre-purchase time slot tickets left, we went on the tour that the Eiffel Tower site offers for €19,90. It takes about an hour and only gets you to the second floor but you also get to see some of the underground as well as getting a bit of history. You can then take the stairs a short way to buy tickets for the 3rd floor elevator. I think it was €8.50 last September. We enjoyed it and felt it was well-worth not having to stand in line at all!

Great ideas. I didn't see the tour offer before. Definitely looking into that. Though wouldn't mind getting lunch in at the same time, even though I hear mixed reviews on the food. Just want to make sure we can get to the 2nd floor viewing area after the lunch.
